Celebrating a Decade of Success with Major Signings of Top Aviation Companies

Dubai, 18 November 2019: With 12-months to go until the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS), organisers announced that nearly 20 of the world’s leading aerospace and defence companies have confirmed their attendance at BIAS this week at the Dubai International Airshow.

Bahrain Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of BIAS, His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed attended the Dubai International Airshow where he signed with major aviation companies including, among others:

  • Airbus
  • Bell
  • Northrop Grumman
  • Rolls-Royce
  • Etihad EngineeringOther important signings which will be new to BIAS include AFS Aviation and aviation fuel giant Chevron.

November 2020 marks a decade of the Bahrain International Airshow. For the first time, it will feature a ‘Drone Village’ which is set to host companies from throughout the sector including anti-drone technology specialists, drone flying, and other UAV technology.

Chalet sales so far have been particularly strong with 80 per cent of chalets either sold or verbally committed.

Work is currently underway on a major programme of capital investment on facilities across the site at the Sakhir Airbase to upgrade the show’s infrastructure with the aim of maintaining its five star offering to clients.  This includes a reconfiguration of the exhibition hall to increase footfall and provide greater exposure for the wealth leading aerospace companies exhibiting in this part of the show as well as the refurbishment of all the business chalets.

His Excellency the Minister said: “The November 2020 Bahrain International Airshow will be a landmark edition and, following the signings confirmed here in Dubai, we remain on track to deliver an unmissable event, bringing together the world’s leading aerospace and defence companies in a strategically placed region of the Middle East.

“Having achieved a decade of successful shows, there’s no question that Bahrain is an important event on the aerospace calendar. We are continually investing in our facilities to ensure the organisations we host achieve their business objectives against a world-class backdrop.”

The 2018 Bahrain International Airshow saw more than US$5bn of aerospace orders and commitments, and US$93.4m of Bahrain aviation industry investments were announced. The 2018 Airshow saw unprecedented growth; with 100%  expansion of the exhibition hall, 100 aircraft across the static and flying displays, and over 200 civil and military delegations, attracting 11 of the top global aerospace companies.
