KEY UK AEROSPACE HEADS ATTEND BAHRAIN INDUSTRY DAY RECEPTION21 Jul 2017
Members of the UK and international aerospace community attended an Industry briefing today hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain. Under the patronage of the Bahrain Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, the reception was held to discuss upcoming opportunities for the UK and the International Aerospace industry within the Kingdom.
Delegates from the UK Department for International Trade (DIT), BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Rockwell Collins and a number of key SMEs attended the event alongside representatives from the Bahrain Economic Development Board, Gulf Air and Farnborough International, co-organisers of the Bahrain International Airshow.
Speaking at the lunch, HE Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, said, “Bahrain and Britain have longstanding ties in aviation, trade, military cooperation and investment, spanning 200 years, with the UK capitalising on Bahrain’s strategic location, economic readiness and advanced infrastructure, and Bahrain making use of the UK aviation industry’s technological capabilities and aircraft. As we go into the future, we believe that there continue to be growing opportunities for business between the two countries, and with our Airport Modernisation Program well underway, Bahrain’s commitment to building an infrastructure second to none will continue to be a strong selling point for the international aviation community.”
Amanda Stainer, Commercial Director for Farnborough International, co-organiser of the Bahrain International Airshow added, “Bahrain offers the perfect pro-business regulatory environment to establish a foot hold in the Middle East and The Bahrain International Airshow provides the perfect venue to explore these business opportunities. We’re now working on the fifth edition and we are busy planning the show with the objective to increase those valuable networking opportunities. On top of the features introduced in previous shows, we are doubling the size of the exhibition hall and developing an on-floor presentation theatre with daily programme of events. With the show still more than a year away, chalet and exhibition space is already 75% sold or reserved.”
The Bahrain International Airshow will take place from 14 – 16 November 2018 and is the fastest growing airshow in the Middle East. While the show has grown, it still retains the unique qualities of the first show in offering that exclusive business environment for high-level business meetings. Its civil and military delegations programme is unparalleled and the exhibition feature hall has allowed even more international businesses to participate in the show. Furthermore, its unique location at the Sakhir Airbase means it can display just about any type of aircraft.
