CIVIL AVIATION AFFAIRS (CAA) FOR THE KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN AND FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL LTD (FIL) SIGN AGREEMENT FOR 2012 AIRSHOW
His Highness Shaikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for Bahrain International Airshow and Farnborough International Limited (FIL) signed an agreement to formalize their partnership to jointly organize the Bahrain International Airshow 2012 (BIAS) which will be held from 19 – 21 January 2012.
January of this year saw the Kingdom’s inaugural Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) which was held at Sakhir Air Base. Organised in partnership with FIL the event’s overwhelming success has paved the way for the announcement of the next BIAS in 2012.
The ceremony which took place at the Farnborough International Airshow, was signed by His Highness Shaikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for BIAS and Ian Godden, Chairman of A|D|S and FIL.
Capt Abdulrahman Al Gaoud, Deputy Chairman of BIAS Organising Committee and Undersecretary for Bahrain CAA was also present along with senior officials from CAA, Bahrain Airport Services, Bahrain Airport Company, Gulf Air, Bahrain Air, Economic Development Board (EDB), Bahrain Duty Free and Mena Aerospace.
HH Shaikh Abdulla also witnessed the signing of the sponsorship Agreement between BIAS and Gulf Air to be the Official Carrier for BIAS 2012 and 2014.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Capt Al Gaoud, Deputy Chairman BIAS and Phil Bowell, CEO, Bahrain Airport Services to be the Ground Handling service provider.
Agreements were also signed by Gulf Air, Bahrain Air, Economic Development Board, Bahrain Airport Company, Bahrain Airport Services and Mena Aerospace to participate in BIAS 2012.
HH Shaikh Abdulla said, “The Kingdom of Bahrain is proud to be extending its partnership with Farnborough International Limited following the success of this year’s inaugural Airshow. The 2012 Bahrain International Airshow will continue to deliver a personalized event focused on the industry itself, free of traditional flying and demonstration limitations due to the Airshow’s unique location and facilities.”
Ian Godden, speaking on behalf of FIL said, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain for their second international airshow. The year-one event attracted delegations from 25 countries with 94 aircraft on display and 40 participating companies. The show finished with deals worth approximately one billion dollars signed and visitor numbers of around 40,000.
In addition, Ahmed Nemat Ali, Asst Undersecretary for Aviation Services, Bahrain CAA signed an agreement with Quaynote Communications UK to host a conference in Bahrain in the first week of January 2012 titled “The Future of Business Jets in the Middle East”.

About the Bahrain International Airshow 2012
The Bahrain International Airshow is organised by Farnborough International Ltd (FIL) in conjunction with Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) and in collaboration with the Royal Bahrain Air Force. The inaugural Bahrain International Airshow (2010) was a three-day event, held from 21-23 January and hosted at Sakhir Air Base, Kingdom of Bahrain, adjacent to the Bahrain International Grand Prix Circuit. The event itself was highly exclusive with 40 participating companies, each one operating from its own luxury chalet unit. Participating companies showcased products and services to potential buyers, visiting delegations, media, trade and public visitors and participated in a full programme of daily flying displays.
Bahrain International Airshow 2012 will take place from 19 – 21 January 2012.
